February 2023 Wrap-Up: The Shortest Month of the Year… And It Really Felt Like It To Be Honest

It seems weird that it is already the last day of February. This month is, of course, the shortest month of the year, but it felt somehow even shorter than expected.

It seems weird that it is already the last day of February. This month is, of course, the shortest month of the year, but it felt somehow even shorter than expected.

I had a pretty good month. My fall semester of freshman year was rather lackluster, but spring semester has been a pretty substantial improvement, I think.

I’m finding my classes more interesting, and they hadn’t truly been kicking into full gear for most of the month, so it was that happy medium of feeling productive and challenged without the stress of actual exams.

Also, I didn’t spend every Saturday night alone in my dorm room, in contrast to the fall.

Reading:

In February, I read only three books (oof) while in January I read 13.

I suppose that is to be expected, considering how much busier my life has gotten since January.

But anyway… here are the books I read in February:

The God Equation by Michio Kaku (4/5 stars)

Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov (4/5 stars) review!

Free Will by Sam Harris (5/5 stars)

Movies, Podcasts and Other Miscellany That’s Not Reading

Movies / TV / Podcasts

House – I am about halfway through the second season now

Mr. Robot– I binged all four seasons of this show back in August, and now I am re-watching it with my friend– we are steadily working our way through season two!

Music

Some albums I have been listening to throughout this month:

Either/Or – Elliott Smith – I remembered this album because I was thinking about Kierkegaard

How to Be a Human Being – Glass Animals – I have been obsessed with this album for a year now

Teens of Denial – Car Seat Headrest – I thought I was all niche and indie but one of my friends also likes CSH

K-19: The Widowmaker soundtrack – Klaus Badelt – this soundtrack is ridiculously good and underrated

In Rainbows – Radiohead – Radiohead is my favorite band, so expect to see one of their albums pretty much every month on here…

Writing

I didn’t have the best writing month this month, since school was sucking up most of my time. But I did get some more writing done on my current main WIP, and my other WIP and tertiary story ideas have been sort of marinating in the back of my mind for a while.

Goals for March

Prioritize focusing my attention

I’ve been thinking a lot recently about the attention economy and its erosion of my attention span. I am multitasking while writing this post, in fact. I want to get back to the lengthy attention span I used to have.

Stop using Reddit

Oh, man. My friends make fun of me for being a Redditor. I have an unhealthy addiction to that website, however. I use it as an outlet to release my frustration about various issues in an echo chamber, which is really bad. So, I want to try to go through the month without going on Reddit.

Work on being mindful of my diet

As a vegan I have to really be on my nutrition so as to not give people any excuse to claim, against the premier medical science, that veganism is unhealthy.

Though I generally eat pretty healthily, I want to try to get more iron and vitamin C, and fewer carbs.

Well that’s it for my February 2023 Wrap-up… How was your month? What was the best book you read? Feel free to share in the comments!

  1. I’m glad you’re enjoying your classes more! Mr. Robot was a great show! At least, what I’ve seen of it. I think I’m several seasons behind lol
